Fly Us to Los Angeles
Tonight, we finish packing for an early flight out to sunny Los Angeles. It’s been over two years since we were last in this shiny city full of dreamers and hustlers. Over two years since we got engaged at Tiki Ti in West Hollywood after a conversation with the owner, Mike, promoted Drew to produce a gorgeous vintage 1930s ring from his pocket and pop the question. There was no other answer except yes.
Tonight, we print up boarding passes, our free tickets to Disneyland, car rental, and timeshare confirmations, while making sure we have all the information we need for our trip to Los Angeles. All things we have done together many times. Yet, this trip feels different.
This will be the first trip we are taking together since we decided to quit the American Dream and go after our own. The first trip since we’ve been actively attacking our debt, gathering our items to sell and making new plans for our future. I love that this will be our first trip and the way our thinking about the future has changed our ideas around travel. Now, fly us to Los Angeles.
We like to arrive at places early in the morning to give us the whole day to explore. And explore, we will. First, we will be hitting up a few of our favorite places to hang out our first day in Los Angeles. Along with making our rounds to some great local places to eat like Roscoe’s Chicken n Waffles and Original Tommy’s. We love the places that have been around for a while.
Thursday will be a fun-filled day with a visit to Disneyland. This will be the first time we have gone with just the two of us. No children. We are looking forward to having a different adults only experience. As well as eating as much Dole Whip, as possible in one visit.
The rest of our time we will spend worshiping the sun, visiting with friends, eating at more favorite eateries, swimming and relaxing by the pool. Everything we need to get away for a few days. I’m sure we will even wait in line at Pink’s one of those nights. Sometimes, you just need a locals’ fix.
Have you ever been to Los Angeles? What do you like best about being there?
